Dog Harnesses
A harness sits across your dog's chest and shoulders and gives you more ways to hold on than a collar alone. Measure before you buy
- Chest girth: measure around the widest part of the rib cage, just behind the front legs.
- Neck: measure where a collar would sit.
- Compare both numbers with each product's size chart. Sizes vary from style to style, so never assume your dog's usual size will match.
Fit check: you should fit two fingers under every strap, and the harness shouldn't twist or slide sideways when your dog moves. Step-in styles are easy for dogs who dislike things going over their head; vest styles cover more of the chest.
Tip: readjust the straps after the first few walks, since webbing can settle and loosen with wear.
