Dog Collars
A collar is something your dog wears every day, so fit and comfort come first, then style. How to measure and fit a collar
- Use a soft tape measure around the middle of your dog's neck, where the collar will sit.
- Add about 5 cm (2 in) for small dogs or a little more for large dogs, then compare with each product's size chart.
- You should be able to slide two fingers between the collar and the neck.
Look at the buckle too: quick-release side buckles are easy on and off, pin buckles adjust like a belt, and metal buckles add a heavier feel. Reflective stitching helps your dog stand out on evening walks. Wider collars suit bigger, stronger dogs; narrow ones suit small breeds and puppies.
Tip: recheck the fit every few weeks, especially on growing puppies, and rinse waterproof collars after swims or muddy walks.
